About the organization

Founded in 1992 in South Africa, Africa Foundation is a registered non-profit organisation that works to empower rural communities living adjacent to conservation areas in Eastern and Southern Africa, including Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, South Africa and Tanzania. The Foundation has been supporting many schools across South Africa for 20 years. So far their work has mostly been in building and repairing structures in very rural areas. In the Kwa Zulu Natal province, they have been assisted with more than twenty schools, building classrooms, drilling boreholes for water, providing materials and initiating community support.

Our Partnership

The Breteau Foundation will enhance the work of Africa Foundation in schools by providing pre-loaded tablet computers, extensive teacher training to R-3 teachers and through empowering teacher champions as leaders in the digital educational space.

About the organization

The Barefoot Foundation/ Fundación Pies Descalzos founded by international artist Shakira supports children in vulnerable areas in Colombia focusing primarily on education, nutrition and life skills in Colombia.

Our Partnership

The foundation partners with them to work in 3 of their schools in Cartagena, Barranquilla and Quibdó. While the Breteau Foundation provides the hardware and software the Barefoot Foundation provides support in the field through their pedagogical advisors, which facilitate our communication and training with the teachers and children. They also do some extra classroom support and logistics when needed.

About the organization

The largest network of teachers in the world with 7.9 million registered users where teachers share and download free lesson plans, classroom resources. Their mission is to enable great teaching by helping educators to find the tools and technology they need to excel and by supporting them throughout their career and professional development. This network is one of the fastest growing of any profession globally and helps to support, guide and inspire educators around the world.

Our Partnership

By partnering with TES, the rich content available on the TES platform will be accessible to the teachers of the Breteau Foundation network at no cost to the teachers. This will open the teachers in the Breteau network to new ways of teaching, lesson plans and classroom resources at their finger tips. The transfer of information is made possible by the WiCastr platform which enables access even to schools with no access to the internet..

About the organization

WICASTR is a patented SMART Wireless Platform that facilitates the creation of wireless networks and content distribution everywhere – no IT skills needed. The platform consists of a SMART WiFi Access Point and a digital content delivery mechanism that facilitates localised content distribution, communications and interactions anywhere. WICASTR networks can be completely off the grid, adding a layer of local content and services to any location without requiring the Internet or any Apps. Ideal for locations where connectivity is either expensive, temperamental or simply non-existent. In addition to this local layer, the platform can also provide fast Internet connectivity. They empower businesses to deliver real value to mobile and smart device users, enabling them to receive what they want, when and how they want it.

Our Partnership

The WiCastr platform is a game changer in our work as it helps us overcome the barrier posed by the lack of internet in some schools. The platform allows the Breteau Administration team to upload content from TES and other online and offline sources and provide it to the teachers and students. Furthermore, it has an inbuilt capability to track the students’ engagement and learning process.
